​Eagles Soar to Bronze at Pan-Jam U15 T1 Tournament

Team MacIntyre took to the diamonds this past weekend at the Pan-Jam U15 Tier 1 Tournament, ready to test their mettle against some of the province's top Tier 1 talent. 
Friday Night Lights: Dominant Start
The Eagles opened the tournament under the lights on Friday with a statement game against the Kitchener Klassics Black. A combination of disciplined plate appearances, heads-up baserunning, and clutch hitting led to a decisive 16–4 win. Let’s just say they didn’t come to Ajax for the sightseeing.
Saturday Showdowns: Grit, Grind, and a Few Bruises
Saturday morning brought sunshine and a battle with the visiting Dragons from Quebec. It was a game worthy of a popcorn refill—back and forth until the final pitch. After plenty of drama and hustle, the scoreboard read 8–8, and both teams left the field with scuffed cleats and mutual respect.
Next up: the Mississauga North Tigers (Kingston). The Eagles’ gloves were practically magnetic—no errors committed. This defensive clinic kept the game tight and allowed the squad to rally late, taking the lead in the fifth and holding strong for a 5–4 win.
In their third game of the day, however, fatigue may have started to set in—or perhaps the Halton Hawks just had an extra bowl of Wheaties. The Eagles’ bats cooled off and the game slipped away in a 12–2 loss. It was their first defeat of the season, and a reminder that even birds of prey have off days.
Sunday Struggles and Redemption
Sunday morning came early. Facing the Oakville Angels, led by Coach Nikki Beal, the Eagles just couldn’t find their rhythm. The weather froze their bats and spirits alike in a 13–0 loss.
But the Eagles weren’t about to go down quietly. In a do-or-die match against the London Lightning, they took a 4–1 lead into the final frame. The Lightning threatened with the bases loaded and one out, but third baseman Carissa Denis had other plans. She snagged a screaming line drive and casually stepped on the bag for a game-ending double play—a moment that deserves its own highlight reel and dramatic music.
Bronze Medal Battle: A Mother’s Day Classic
Finishing round robin play with 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie, the Eagles secured a shot at bronze in a rematch against the Dragons Sud-Ouest. With bragging rights and medals on the line, this one had everything: suspense, strategy, and a bit of dirt under the fingernails.
After falling behind 2–0 early, the Eagles battled back to tie it 2–2 in the fourth. The Dragons answered in the fifth to go up 3–2, but the Eagles, fueled by determination (and possibly some sideline snacks), roared back with two runs in the sixth to take their first lead of the game. Clutch defense in the final inning sealed a dramatic 4–3 victory—and a bronze medal finish.
A Mother’s Day to Remember
The tournament ended with proud moms smiling through happy tears, kids beaming with bronze around their necks, and one very well-earned team celebration on the diamond. Because nothing says “Happy Mother’s Day” quite like a comeback win and some infield dirt on your shoes.
